What is AAPS-I?

The Alberta Association of Public Schools- International

The Alberta Association of Public Schools - International (AAPS-I) is an association of public schools in Alberta, Canada that provides international education programs to international students. Member districts must have experience hosting international students who want to study in Canada and must meet strict guidelines to ensure international students receive the highest quality educational programming and experience possible while in Canada. Alberta has one of the highest-ranked education systems in the world and our dedicated and professional staff work to ensure international students have access to high-quality education.

The Mandate of AAPS-I is to:

  • Foster a collaborative approach in the promotion of international education opportunities across Alberta;
  • Act as a forum for sharing information about international education in Alberta public schools;
  • Ensure that all member programs adhere to the prescribed practices related to the AAPS-I Principles of Membership;
  • Serve as a resource for K-12 international student programs;
  • Promote a unified Alberta approach to international education practices across the province;
  • Act as an advocate for K-12 international education at the provincial level;
  • Collaborate with the provincial government in the promotion and support of International Education in Alberta; and
  • Work collaboratively with other governments and agencies in the support and promotion of International Education in Canada (e.g.,  CAPS-I).
